Our Pitch for Your Support in 2025

January 15, 2025

It’s the beginning of a new year, and most likely you’re in the midst of a planning session – with your calendar and your bank account – figuring out when and where you will spend your time and your hard-earned money. You’re reviewing your financial obligations, planning the vacations you deserve (work hard, play hard!) and hopefully, you’re setting aside some time and money to give back to the community. That’s where we come in. From the voluminous portfolio of more than 1,200 nonprofits in Greater Miami-Dade County alone, why should you place Slick’s Kicks Charitable Foundation, Inc. TM , a nonprofit that gifts trendy new kicks to those seeking self-help through Florida human services nonprofits, at the top of your giving list? According to the data below, there’s a high probability that someone in your network needs our show of support for the work they’re doing to re-establish their lives.

  • The Kaiser Family Foundation (“KFF”), the leading health policy organization in the U.S., reported that from February 1st to February 13th of 2023, 32.3% of adults in Florida reported symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder, compared to 32.3% of adults in the U.S.
  • On February 6, 2024, news station WUFT (PBS News) reported that, according to the number of calls made to the human trafficking crisis hotline, Florida ranks third in the nation behind California and Texas for the number of reported cases.
  • As reported by the Florida Attorney General’s office, there were more than 120,000 cases of domestic violence reported in Florida last year (countless cases go unreported).

The Infiniti Group, LLC, whose client base consists of several recovery centers in California, noted in October of 2024 that according to data gathered by the U.S. Government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (“SAMHSA”), the impact of family and community support in substance abuse recovery is profound. Per SAMHSA, individuals who receive this support are up to 5 times more likely to achieve long-term recovery. These individuals also experience a 50% - 70% lower relapse rate, and their chances of a full recovery were increased by 50%. Per the Infiniti Group, LLC, these findings highlight the essential role strong social networks play in fostering sustainable recovery and preventing relapse.
